After driving through Titus Canyon we stopped at Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes. It was a nice stop after exiting Titus Canyon. The Sand Dunes are 23.1 miles down CA-190 W from Furnace Creek Visitor Center, but heading back south from Titus Canyon it was a convenient stop.

The parking lot was full when we arrived, but you are able to park on the side of the road. We snagged a spot, ate lunch really quick, and then headed to the Sand Dunes. Luckily, the Sand Dunes are big so you are able to social distance and not be close to people. These Sand Dunes are the most popular ones in the park because they are easily accessible and they’re the only ones in the park that allow you to sled down them! Plus for all of you Star Wars fans this is where parts of Star Wars was filmed! Episode IV — A New Hope and Star Wars Episode VI — Return of the Jedi.

We stayed at the Sand Dunes for an hour. We didn’t walk very far into the Sand Dunes because we knew we wanted to stop at one more place before we headed back to our AirBnb outside of Las Vegas. We stopped at the visitors center one more time to ask the Park Rangers what they recommended for our last stop of the day. We landed on Dante’s View.

Hi There!

We're Lauren and Owen -

We started The AZ Hikeaholics as a way to share our adventures with an audience that was interested. It soon grew into a community and we were all in! The more we learned about the history, geology, culture, biology etc, of the places we were exploring, the more we wanted to know.
